Review: Red Rising (Red Rising #1)

Rating:★★★★½

I received this book for free through Goodreads’ First Reads.

I’ve been wanting to read this book for a while. I’m not going to lie, one of the reasons why I wanted to read this book is because the author is a total dream boat. They don’t call him “The Hottest YA Author” for nothing. He has the looks, personality, and talent that makes him the total package.

So enough fawning over Pierce. Let’s get back to the book.

I really enjoyed this book. It was like The Hunger Games meets Lord of the Flies meets Red Queen. It was a bit confusing in the beginning, but only because I was unfamiliar with the world and it took some time to learn everything.

One thing I really liked about this book was that the author titled all the chapters. I felt like that added a little something extra since most fiction books don’t do that.

I loved how fast paced and exciting the story was. It was incredibly engaging. The only thing I didn’t like was how the ending felt a bit rushed. It could have been fleshed out a tad bit more. But aside from that, this was a really good book.

Overall, Red Rising just proves that Pierce Brown is more than just a pretty face.
