I finally did it. I unhauled some books from my shelves and donated them.
I’ve been putting off doing this for a while because I am such a book hoarder. I just want to keep all my books. However, I have been running out of shelf space for a while now and my mom has been nagging me about the amount of books I own and the fact that I keep getting book mail. So it was about time I did it.
At first I thought I would be sad after I did it, but I actually feel quite happy and relieved. I’m actually smiling while I’m writing this. Once I started picking books to unhaul, it was so easy to pick more and it felt so good to declutter my shelves.
In total, I unhauled approximately 32 books. I picked books that I know I probably wouldn’t refer back to in the future. What I mean by that is I probably won’t use these books in bookstagram photos, talk about them in my blog, reread them, or reminisce with them. Just because I unhauled a book doesn’t mean that I didn’t like it, it just means that I don’t have a use for them anymore.

I definitely haven’t unhauled in a while, as I’ve been excessively borrowing books from my library. But I do find it hard, the idea of money wasted usually irritates me. 32 books is a great deal! Good for you 🙂

Thank you! Luckily for me, I didn’t buy a majority of these books. Most of them are review copies or books I won in giveaways.

I’m a pretty big book hoarder too but I also feel that after a good unhauling, the feeling of de-cluttering and all that is really rewarding.

I’m really bad at unhauling books, I probably have a lot that I should get rid of but everytime I think about it I always say to myself “but what if I want to read this later”(even though its been sitting unread on my shelf for 5 years and I can no longer even remember what it’s about hahah)

I have never unhauled books… I feel too attached to them but then again my book collection is growing and my shelf space shrinking so I may have to unhaul some books. But it seems you have had a good experience with it so maybe it is not so bad. 😉

I’m a book hoarder too, but it’s more because they are quite pricey here. One book can cost me 8 meals (seriously) 😦 .
Anyways, you did a great job! I don’t see myself doing this anytime soon, but it’s nice seeing somebody capable of doing this noble deed.
