Initially, to start off 2019, I was going to make an actual TBR jar. If you don’t know what that is, it’s a jar where you put down all the names of your unread books and randomly pick one to read. I realized this would take a lot of time to make. From cutting up the paper to writing the names down, I just don’t have the time to do that since I start school on Monday. So instead I made a “virtual” one, which is a spreadsheet. It was so quick and I love that I know the exact number of unread books on my shelves (it currently stands at 87). To select a book, I’m just going to use a random number generator. It’s not as pretty as a jar would be, but it sure is practical.

I’m so excited to have created this. I may even edit it later on to add more information like the date I received a book. I think it will be fun to see how this goes this year. Since I read multiple books at a time, my plan is to have one of my currently readings come from this jar.
Have you ever made a TBR jar? How did it go? Let me know in the comments!
xoxo,

This is such a good idea I have one of these + a physical one 🤗

Ahh, I adore this! I used to have a physical TBR jar but you’re right: it’s very time consuming. This is such a good idea though!!! Good luck with your TBR! I hope you get to a lot of the books on it this year.

Love this idea! I keep wanting to make a the jar or shelf in Goodreads, but I have too many book, even typing or scanning them in would take ages.

How many books do you have?

I would estimate 500-600 unread 😦 I didn’t read very much for a few years and worked in a library where I could bring home donated books by the bagful. It got way out of hand and I still haven’t caught up. Someday I will though.

Yes, I’m slowly wittling the piles down. I should probably unhaul and donate a bunch at this point. My reading tastes have changed in the last last several years. Maybe I’ll make a virtual tbr jar one shelf at a time.

I’m such a mood reader it’s hard to do TBR jars and stuff 🙈

That’s why I read multiple books. I’m always in the mood for one of the books I’m reading.

Great post!
I did this too! I’ve made a priority reading list on my phone. So that’ll help me with the books I own.
Good luck ☺️

OMG this is so timely. I was just thinking about how I wanted to make a TBR Jar, but then I was like, “I will definitely break and or lose it,” I love the idea of a virtual one!
